24/7 Crisis Line

Project Sanctuary offers a 24/7/365 crisis line for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. You can call and speak to a certified crisis counselor at any time. Your experience does not have to be recent to call. Emotional responses to past-trauma can arise at any time. Crisis counselors can help you create safety plans, connect you to resources, and explore your options. If you just need someone to talk to about what you’re experiencing, we’re here to listen.

Our staff and volunteers prioritize the availability of accompaniment services for sexual assault victims around the clock, ensuring that support is always within reach. Whether it's accompanying survivors to hospitals, law enforcement agencies, district attorney’s offices, court proceedings, or other essential services, our dedicated team stands ready to meet the unique needs of each client. With compassion and professionalism, we respond promptly to requests from the medical field, meeting clients at hospitals or clinics to provide the vital support and reassurance they need during these challenging times.

Counseling is provided by peer counselors who meet the certification requirements as prescribed by law as set forth in the California State Welfare and Institutions Code Sections 18290-18307, Penal Code Sections 18320-18325, 13835-13837, and Evidence Code Sections 1035-1037-1037.7. Counseling services are available in both English and Spanish.

Individual Counseling: We provide free and confidential individual counseling for victims who have experienced sexual abuse or domestic violence in their lives no matter how long ago the assault and/or violence occurred. Counseling is available at both of our offices, via phone, or video platforms.

Support Groups: We offer free and confidential support groups in a safe and positive environment. Current support groups cover topics such as Empowerment, Boundaries, and Recovering from Abuse.

Emergency Safe Housing

Individuals fleeing abuse, with or without children, may stay at the Safe House for up to 90 days. The Safe House location is confidential and in the Ukiah area. During their time at the Safe House we offer residential clients services such as counseling, support groups and financial planning. Clients are provided house food which supplements their own food resources. Staff work with clients to make sure they are signed up with Social Services to receive any benefits for which they are eligible. Clients are provided transportation, accompaniment and advocacy as requested by them. When our safe house is full, it is sometimes possible to receive one to three nights in a motel for a client in immediate danger. This provides time to try and find another safe house for them in another county.

Transitional Housing

Project Sanctuary offers temporary, supportive transitional housing to individuals who have participated in services or resided in our emergency safe house. Each participant accepted into our Transitional program will have an individualized service plan tailored to their specific needs.

The service plan will be developed with the assistance of the Transitional Housing Case Manager. It may include one-on-one counseling, education, substance abuse treatment, workforce skills, budgeting, credit repair, or other identified needs of the participant. The service plan will have established timelines and may be revised according to the needs of each participant.

Prevention Education & Outreach

Project Sanctuary offers Prevention Education and Outreach to local schools at the junior high, high school and college level. Our focus is to educate students on healthy communication and relationships, consent, digital boundaries, and more. We address the common myths surrounding domestic violence and sexual assault.

Our presentations are also available to local groups, organizations, and in the workplace.
